MK Community Foundation Announce Mental Health & Young People Charity Legacy

Milton Keynes Community Foundation proudly announces its management of MK YIS’ Trust, ensuring continued support for mental wellness among young people in our community.

With the recent closure of the local youth mental health charity, MK YiS is transferring its remaining funds to MK Community Foundation, who will preserve the charity’s legacy through the establishment of a new fund.

The ‘MK YIS Legacy Fund’ will make one-off grants available for local charities and community organisations for funding towards mental health projects supporting young people.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer this support” said Ranjit Singh, Philanthropy Director at MK Community Foundation.

“Sadly, we know that many young people in our community are struggling with their mental health. Our recent Vital Signs report highlighted that 25% of secondary school students in Milton Keynes had a mental health problem in the last 12 months. We hope to quickly distribute this resource to projects working to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people.”

On behalf of MK YIS, Antonietta Moch, CEO added:

“Despite the closure of MK YiS, we are delighted to announce that our remaining funds will continue to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people in Milton Keynes through the YiS Legacy Fund We hope it will provide effective and timely support to the fantastic work that continues in the Milton Keynes community putting the voice and needs of young people at its centre.”

Groups are encouraged to apply for funding through MK Community Foundation’s website: https://www.mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk/grants/apply-for-a-grant/
