MyMiltonKeynes CEO recognised with top honour at the Women Leaders 2023 Awards

MyMiltonKeynes’ CEO, Melanie Beck MBE, was recognised at the recent Women Leaders 2023 Awards, scooping a special ‘Judges Inspiration’ accolade for her dedication and passion to create a world class business district in the heart of CMK.

Melanie was selected from all nominations entered into the 14 categories to win the special ‘Judges Inspiration’ award and was also a finalist in the Community Impact (employed) category.

Under Melanie’s lead the BID, which was formed in 2017 after 82% of businesses unanimously voted in favour for it, has generated an inward investment of £10 million for CMK and significantly contributed to uplifting footfall, sanitation and safety in the city centre.

The judges also recognised Melanie’s tireless community work, which included being awarded an MBE for services to the community in the 2020 Commonwealth Honours List after leading a campaign in CMK to tackle the impact of Covid, along with her commitment to continually challenge gender bias and champion fellow business women across the city.

The Women Leaders 2023 Awards ceremony, which took place at The Hilton DoubleTree (MK Stadium) on Wednesday 7th June, attracted over 360 people from across the city. Recognising women across a range of categories including those who work in the Arts, media, STEM manufacturing and education, every nominee demonstrated tenacity, resilience, and commitment to furthering their own, and other women’s, careers.

Melanie Beck MBE, Chief Executive at MyMiltonKeynes said: “I am honoured to have been recognised amongst so many talented women and chosen by the Women Leaders Award judges to receive this wonderful accolade. Winning this award marks a pinnacle point in my career and, as I set the wheels in motion for my retirement later this year, I hope that my legacy will continue to help drive and inspire women that they can succeed in whatever they set out to achieve.”

Founder of Women Leaders UK, Jan Flawn, CBE, said: “Melanie personally inspired me with her determination strength and passion to complete all her roles whilst going through the most difficult personal time with her health. A well-deserved award.”
