MyMiltonKeynes finalists in three categories for upcoming awards

The team at MyMiltonKeynes are keeping their fingers crossed for a trio of successes after being named finalists in THREE separate categories in the 2023 SME MK & Buckinghamshire Business Awards.

They will be hoping to triumph in the Business Innovation, Positive Impact and Business Woman of the Year categories.

As a finalist within the Business Innovation category, MyMiltonKeynes has been recognised for its ability to shape initiatives to reflect the current needs of CMK businesses. A key highlight of this, to increase connectivity while promoting sustainability, has been the launch of the all-electric MyBus, a free shuttle service which transports employees within the BID area across the city and operates an on demand service for a portion of the day.

The Positive Impact award centres around MyMiltonKeynes’ ongoing work to promote the city and improve the public areas, making it a clean and modern place to visit and work through the delivery of five key themes. As a second-term BID, it is providing a longer-term strategy and vision for the area to benefit businesses, their employees, and visitors to the city, while developing the city as a centrepiece of Buckinghamshire.

And finally, Chief Executive at MyMiltonKeynes, Melanie Beck MBE, has been named as a finalist within the Business Woman of the Year category for her tireless work on innovative plans for bringing change to the city.

A recent recipient of a Women Leaders Award, Melanie spearheaded the creation of the BID and, alongside launching a series of initiatives, she has introduced the Allyship programme, encouraged and empowered those from different ethnic backgrounds to succeed and achieve. She has also championed homeless initiatives to tackle rough sleeping in the city and worked with organisations to overcome knife crime and youth involvement in gang culture.

Melanie J Beck MBE, Chief Executive said: “We are enormously proud to be named as finalists across three categories within these awards. It’s an affirmation of the tremendous amount of thought and hard work that goes into everything we do to improve the city and to attract the very best talent to work here.

“Personally, to be a finalist for Business Woman of the Year is an honour, and to be in the same category as a number of other talented, entrepreneurial powerhouses is a win in itself. Good luck to all of our fellow finalists, we’re looking forward to seeing you all at the ceremony.”

The SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Stadium:MK on September 20th.
