MyMiltonKeynes Team Earns Prestigious BID Accreditation

The MyMiltonKeynes team are celebrating after being awarded an official BID Accreditation for the second time – making them just one of only 9% of UK BIDs to achieve the honour.

The official BID Accreditation, which is awarded by the British Bids, validates the work MyMiltonKeynes conducts to support improvements and activity across the City Centre and proves their excellence across a number of different areas including governance, management, financials, and communications.

Significantly the accreditation – which lasts for a maximum of three years – is voluntary. MyMiltonKeynes chose to apply for it to demonstrate to levy payers and stakeholders how committed and transparent they are, and to demonstrate the levels of resource and investment the BID has brought into the city.

This is the second time MyMiltonKeynes has been awarded the accreditation, having first achieved it back in 2018. The application process included a thorough and detailed appraisal of the BID, in accordance with stringent guidelines, the submission of 100 pieces of evidence, and an assessment from an independent panel.

While commending MyMiltonKeynes on its internal and external processes and business crime reduction partnership, the accreditation panel also noted the BID’s driven team who work in harmony with BID members and key stakeholders.

Matthew John, BID Development Director for MyMiltonKeynes said: “We are thrilled to have received this accreditation as a mark of quality for the BID. MyMiltonKeynes is one of only 29 BIDs that has obtained this accreditation out of 332 BIDs across the UK, so it is an honour to be one of an elite handful and achieve this for a second time.”

The accreditation also acts as a legacy to the work of Melanie Beck MBE, who retired from her position as CEO of MyMiltonKeynes earlier this month.

New CEO, Jill Farnsworth, said: “Achieving this accreditation is a fantastic accolade and a true reflection of what the MyMiltonKeynes team is delivering. It also makes us even more determined to look at how we can enhance our offering over the next few years, and I have no doubt the BID will continue to be a huge success.”

MyMiltonKeynes began its second five year term last year following a resounding ‘yes’ vote in 2021.

Since 2017 the BID has generated an inward investment of £10 million pounds and its ongoing vision is to continue to cultivate an outdoor environment that is clean, safe and stimulating, with a programme of events for all to enjoy.
