Action4Youth celebrate the return of NCS 2022 residentials!

Action4Youth, based in Milton Keynes, are well over halfway through the summer of NCS programmes. This year the programme spans across two weeks, with the first week held at Action4Youth’s activity centre, The Caldecotte Xperience in MK. The NCS young people and staff have been lucky to stay in the TCX Tent Village, and take part in sessions such as kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, climbing, epic challenge and team dynamics. The teams have also shown their creative side taking part in the bin bag fashion show and cooking skills during the ‘Food for Thought’ session, making and their own pizza in the outdoor pizza ovens.

Action4Youth have also provided sessions with Olympic athletes, a taste of being an entrepreneur during ‘Enterprise Challenge’ and time to reflect in political and mental health sessions. For week 2, the young people join sessions in their local community. They research, plan, and organise how they will fundraise, volunteer and raise awareness for their local charity. Once they have finalised their plans, they go up against the Lions’ in the Lair. The lions are made up of a panel of professionals from local businesses and the young people present and bid for up to £40 to kick-start their fundraising efforts.

The NCS Team at Action4Youth are glad to have had an amazing group of hard-working young people and look forward to the last wave, raising much-needed funds for Milton Keynes businesses including local charities, and learning the skills to present and bid for money to support their community. The young people’s successes and achievements will be celebrated at The Big Night Out in September.
