Christmas at Unity Place – A Packed Calendar of Festive Fun

Christmas at Unity Place – A Packed Calendar of Festive Fun

This December marks the first Christmas at Unity Place and to celebrate, there is a calendar stuffed full of events awaiting. From late-night parties to activities for the little ones, the festive season promises something special for everyone.

It’s the season to eat well and be merry, and Unity Place is providing it all over the holiday season, offering a perfect evening out for groups of friends and loved ones. Every Thursday until 21 December from 4pm to 9:30pm, the Urban Food Market will come alive with the sounds of Eats & Beats,
featuring live music by up-and-coming local artists and bands including Fan Club House Band Acoustic Trio, (7 and 21 December), and R&B and pop group The Two, AKA Sash and Nat (14 December).

In addition to the live music shows, guests can indulge in a variety of fantastic food offerings from the Urban Food Market. Highlights include Cantina’s mouth-watering burritos, crispy fried chicken burgers and juicy brisket from local favourite Bandit, hearty hot sandwiches from new vendor the Butcher’s Block, Taiwanese bao and rice box from Bian Dang and authentic sourdough street pizzas by Raffaele. The fully stocked Unity Bar offers an array of drinks to choose from and Thursday nights in December will see the exciting new offer of a free ‘planet saving’ TOAST Ale with every meal ordered. It’s a perfect evening to catch up with friends pre-Christmas!

The food doesn’t stop at Eats & Beats; throughout the whole of December there will be more Christmas specials, such as Turkey Roast sandwiches served from the Butcher’s Block for the ultimate treat. Every Festive Friday lunchtime, freshly baked bread stuffed with just-carved slices of turkey will be available until they sell out. Unity Place’s resident bakers have also been busy at work, unveiling a whole host of freshly baked festive treats that will be sold every day. Alongside the classics of stollen, Christmas cake, iced gingerbread, and mince pies, there will also be Christmas pudding doughnuts, almond tarts, and mint chocolate chip cake.

Unity Place is first and foremost a space for the community, and so to support families during the school holidays, there will be free showings of Christmas movies every Festive Friday from 8 December. The movies to be shown will be selected via social media poll, so be sure to keep an eye
on the Unity Place Instagram (@unity_placemk) and Facebook (@UnityPlaceMK) pages for updates. The perfect way to keep the young ones entertained for a few hours, and for loved ones to come together and get into the Christmas spirit.

There will also be an opportunity for the little ones to have a go at decorating Christmas gingerbread biscuits. Unity Place will be unveiling its very own gingerbread replica on Friday 8 December, followed by an invitation to the Urban Food Market where children will be able to have a go at decorating their own gingerbread any day of the week for free, a fun activity in the run up to Christmas.

Those looking to get ahead with their Christmas gifts whilst also supporting local, will enjoy the Festive Market running every Wednesday to Friday from 6 December right up until the big day. The local Christmas craft pop-up will showcase the best of local talent, featuring handmade ornaments,
Internal Christmas wreaths, and gifts for everyone on your list. With pop-ups live 11am-2pm it’s a great place to shop on a lunch break or bring the kids for some holiday entertainment.

Above all the festive fun, Unity Place is looking to give back this Christmas. Thursday 7 December marks Christmas Jumper Day when Unity Place will be encouraging all sorts of festive wear to raise money for Save The Children. There will be a toy donation drop-off in aid of the Salvation Army, and Unity Place will also be supporting the Cycling Santa on 16 December, encouraging people to ride for Unity Place.
