Sponsorship for Santa Dash helps Willen Hospice raise vital funds for end-of-life care

We were again proud sponsors of the annual Willen Hospice Santa Dash which saw 350 supporters dressed as Santa’s, (many with their dressed-up dogs), run, walk, jog or wheelchair their way around Willen Lake (North).

The event took place on Sunday 17th December, and even though it was cold, the sun was shining. Santa’s started arriving at 9.30 and by 10.15 there was a sea of red and white in the beautiful Willen Hospice gardens. Rob from The Good Gym, Kiln Farm warmed them up whilst Simon Tuck from MKFM shouted support and encouragement whilst playing festive tunes to help them on their way.

It was not long before a handful of Santa’s reappeared to finish in an incredible time with smiles and only a little bit out of breath. Shortly after a huge sea of red and white could be seen in the distance and all the Santa’s crossed the finish line to cheers from the crowd and an army of volunteer helpers from TS Whaddon – Milton Keynes Sea & Royal Marine Cadets, (who did an incredible job helping and encouraging the participants).

Santa’s taking part were rewarded with a medal and a MyMiltonKeynes goodie bag when they crossed the finish line, and included in their sign-up package a hot drink, a hot sausage roll or soup and a roll to warm them up.

£23,803 was raised from sign-ups and fundraising, breaking all record, and we would like to thank everyone who was involved and participated in this well organised, fun and simply brilliant event for a wonderful local charity close to many people’s hearts.
