MyMiltonKeynes, the City’s Business Improvement District (BID), has been nationally recognised for its high standards and awarded the prestigious Industry Standards accreditation from The BID Foundation. This recognition underscores the BID’s commitment to transparency, responsible governance, and excellence in supporting local businesses.
The accreditation is awarded following a rigorous independent review process, where MyMiltonKeynes successfully demonstrated compliance with all 11 standards that comprise the Industry Standards. These standards cover key areas such as business planning, governance mechanisms and transparent reporting.
"We knew we were a well-run BID, with excellent governance in place, so when we joined The BID Foundation earlier this year, we wanted to apply for their accreditation,” said Jill Farnsworth, CEO at MyMiltonKeynes. “To meet all 11 standards we had to overhaul our website and really look at the information we were putting out to our member businesses about our organisation. We are so pleased to be recognised for the hard work we have put in and confident the improvements we’ve made make us more accessible to the business community.”
Matthew Davis, Director at the Institute of Place Management and The BID Foundation, commented on the importance of this achievement: “This is a crucial piece of work to support BIDs. The Industry Standards further demonstrate the professionalism of BIDs that adopt them, and of the wider sector, which has stepped forward through the pandemic and now during recovery to provide support to thousands of local businesses.”
The BID Foundation, comprising over 70 Business Improvement Districts, developed the Industry Standards with input from UK government and other national bodies. These standards aim to ensure that BIDs maintain a high level of transparency and accountability, providing clear and accessible information to all stakeholders.
MyMiltonKeynes BID is now part of a growing group of BIDs that have been accredited with these Industry Standards, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in the sector.
