Shape Our City Centre
Milton Keynes City Centre is evolving. By 2050, the city is predicted to have a population of around 410,000 people, many of them living in the city centre, and with many more people beyond that using it as their place of work, or as their first choice for shopping, leisure or a whole range of other activities.
Plans in place for the East West Rail line, discussions taking place regarding a University campus opening in the City Centre and the potential for a Universal Studios site in nearby Bedford mean the city will be accessible to even more people.
Our role is to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the City Centre remains a vibrant, sustainable and competitive business destination, attracting visitors and inward investment.

Accessibility and Inclusion
On Purple Tuesday in Milton Keynes City Centre, we united local charities and organisations dedicated to improving accessibility and enhancing the customer experience for all. It doesn't stop there - we want Milton Keynes to be a welcoming, accessible and inclusive place for everyone.

Supporting Tourism and Visitor Economy
We love Milton Keynes and its uniqueness from other cities in the UK. It’s leisure and shopping offer is unrivalled in the region, it’s the test-bed for emerging technology and it is a top destination for business tourism. We are working with partners to support the development and delivery of a Milton Keynes Visitor Economy Strategy to encourage more people to choose to visit Milton Keynes.

Sustainability in the City Centre
We are committed to leading by example on achieving net zero and showcasing best practice to encourage a city centre wide net zero target, striving to achieve the aspirations of Milton Keynes City Council to become carbon neutral by 2030 and carbon negative by 2050.

Finding Our Future Workforce
Inspiring our young people to choose to live and work in Milton Keynes City Centre when they get older helps us retain local talent and shape the future of our City. We will be developing a programme of engagement events for 2025 that would enable city centre employers to have constructive conversations with employees of the future, including ‘Careers Week’ showcase style events that profile City Centre businesses to the future workforce.
