The MyMiltonKeynes private security officers, Sam and Tariq are now trained on using new enforcement powers that enable them to take direct action against street drinking in Milton Keynes City Centre.

Authorised under the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) by Milton Keynes City Council, the MyMiltonKeynes Bobbies, Sam and Tariq can now challenge individuals drinking alcohol in the restricted area, and where necessary, issue fixed penalty notices to those who refuse to comply.

MyMiltonKeynes' City Centre Safety Lead Sam Bradley said: “We know that street drinking can often escalate into antisocial behaviour, which can then negatively impact on those visiting, working and running a business here. By giving our officers these powers, they can act quickly and effectively, if they need to. Their first priority will always be to offer support and referrals to those who genuinely want help."
