Milton Keynes City Centre delivered a robust performance in August, with overall sales up 1% year-on-year, transactions increasing by over 6%, and customer visits rising by 5%. This outperformed the UK average, where town and city centre sales declined by 4.8% year-on-year, according to the latest MyMiltonKeynes BID City Centre Insights.
Several sectors drove growth during August, with Fashion up 7%, Food & Drink up nearly 7%, and Health & Beauty increasing by over 6%.
Jill Farnsworth, CEO of MyMiltonKeynes BID, said: “August’s results highlight the resilience and appeal of Milton Keynes City Centre. While many town and city centres across the UK faced declines, we’re seeing growth in key sectors such as Fashion, Food & Drink, and Health & Beauty, showing that Milton Keynes continues to attract shoppers and visitors alike.”

These results are based on debit card spend, which according to UK Finance (2024), accounted for 62% of all UK transactions and 64% of all spend, making them a key indicator of City Centre Insights and performance.
MyMiltonKeynes BID collates and publishes monthly City Centre Insights reports, covering sales data from across the BID area, which stretches from Hotel La Tour at one end to MK Central station at the other. The Insights reports are circulated exclusively to BID levy payers and voluntary members, as part of the CEO's monthly e-update.
