MyMiltonKeynes BID has introduced SelectaDNA forensic spray to our BID Patrol team as part of our wider approach to improving safety in Milton Keynes city centre.

SelectaDNA spray is a crime-deterrence and safety tool designed for use only in exceptional circumstances involving serious disorder or violent incidents, where there is a clear and immediate risk to people.

The spray allows trained patrol officers to mark individuals involved in such incidents from a safe distance, helping to reduce the risk of injury to the public and to our staff by avoiding close physical contact.

The marking itself is invisible and does not identify individuals. Any subsequent investigation or identification is entirely a matter for the police, using their own lawful powers and processes.

Our patrol officers have received specialist training, and the spray will be used only as a last-resort safety measure, under strict operational guidance, reporting requirements, and in line with data-protection and legal obligations.

This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to supporting a safe, welcoming city centre for businesses, visitors, and residents.
