MyMiltonKeynes BID's Community Safety Patrol officers successfully helped recover almost £900 worth of stolen goods last week, following two separate retail crime incidents in Milton Keynes City Centre.

While on patrol near The Point, Community Safety Officers responded to information shared through the BID's radio network regarding three known shoplifters who had entered a city centre retailer. Acting quickly, officers attended the scene and engaged with the suspects, who abandoned the stolen merchandise before leaving the store.

As a result, £760 worth of stock was recovered, preventing a significant loss to the retailer and demonstrating the effectiveness of proactive patrols and real-time intelligence sharing through the BID radio network.

Two police officers escort a handcuffed man down a tree-lined street beside a marked police car.

Shortly afterwards, officers responded to a separate report of a theft from a different city centre retailer. Following information provided by Centre Control, the suspect was located nearby and detained until further enquiries could be carried out.

The stolen property, valued at £115, was recovered and returned to the retailer. Thames Valley Police attended and arrested the individual on suspicion of shoplifting and possession of an offensive weapon. Officers also confirmed that the suspect was wanted in connection with several other offences.

The two incidents resulted in the recovery of £875 worth of stolen goods in total and highlight the value of close partnership working between MyMiltonKeynes BID's Community Safety Patrol team, businesses, shopping centre security and Thames Valley Police.
