The MyMiltonKeynes Annual Christmas Lights Switch-On brought festive magic to the city centre on Saturday 22 November, as thousands of people gathered at The Point car park to celebrate the start of the Christmas season — despite the heavy rainfall earlier in the day.
Crowds Gather as the Festive Show Begins
The event kicked off at 4pm, hosted by magician and comedian Dave Allen, who kept spirits high even as the rain continued. The Christ the Sower Primary School Choir opened the show with a heart-warming performance, bravely singing through the weather to a cheering audience.
Local Talent Takes Centre Stage
Crowd favourites Arts1 followed with a high-energy set, featuring a Frozen medley, a tap number inspired by Elf, and a stunning solo from Grammy-nominated performer Ivano Turco. Their showcase brought colour, dance, and plenty of festive excitement to the evening.
As the skies finally cleared, more visitors arrived to enjoy the soulful vocals of Ollie Corbett—local jazz and swing singer, global performer with the Jack Pack, and familiar face from MyMK social media content.
The atmosphere lifted even further as the Milton Keynes Rock Choir, more than 50 strong, returned for a second year. Their powerful harmonies and energy had the crowd singing along.
The Big Moment: Lights, Fireworks and Festive Cheer
The finale featured a dramatic countdown led by The Evil Ringmaster, this year’s Milton Keynes Theatre panto villain, alongside Father Christmas himself. As the city counted down, the Christmas lights illuminated the night sky, followed by a spectacular firework display over the Food Centre.
A Community Celebration Made Possible by Local Partners
MyMiltonKeynes extends special thanks to Milton Keynes Development Partnership for providing use of The Point car park, and to centre:mk for allowing safe activation of the fireworks from the Food Centre site.
The continued support of local partners ensures that the Christmas Lights Switch-On remains a much-loved annual tradition for residents and visitors.
