MyMiltonKeynes BID is investing in the future of city centre safety with the expansion of its in-house security team. The enhanced team will provide greater visibility, broader coverage, and improved support for businesses, workers and visitors across Milton Keynes City Centre.
The BID’s existing security officers Sam and Tariq have been joined by new recruits Greta and Junicca. This increased capacity enables MyMiltonKeynes to introduce 7-day-a-week patrols, with extended evening coverage.
The security team, who have switched their red uniforms for navy ones, will be managed directly by the BID’s City Centre Safety and Operations Lead, Sam Bradley. They will continue to carry out high-visibility patrols, support businesses, deter antisocial behaviour, and work closely with partners such as Thames Valley Police, Milton Keynes Council and security teams at centre:mk, Xscape and Midsummer Place.
Jill Farnsworth, CEO of MyMiltonKeynes, said: “Introducing the security officers last year was a game changer for our businesses, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Now with Sam Bradley at the helm, we are in a position to be able to bring it in-house, extend the service and give our businesses the security support they need seven days a week. A huge thanks is owed to the My Local Bobby team for getting us to this pivotal point - it is testament to the training and support the officers received that we have been able to make such a positive impact over the past 18 months.”
The strengthened security service forms part of MyMiltonKeynes’ wider commitment to creating a thriving, well-managed city centre and sits alongside ongoing investment in public realm improvements, reporting tools and partnership-led initiatives.

This update clearly shows how investing in security officers strengthens city-centre safety and business confidence. Expanding patrol coverage and bringing the team in-house adds visibility, faster response, and stronger coordination with local partners. Well-trained security officers play a vital role in deterring antisocial behaviour and creating a welcoming environment for everyone. A smart, proactive move for long-term urban secu
