MyMiltonKeynes BID, in collaboration with Thames Valley Police and My Local Bobby, visited MK City Centre businesses last Friday as part of National Safer Business Action Week. BID staff, My Local Bobby and Thames Valley Police engaged with 50 local businesses to offer guidance on addressing shoplifting, anti-social behaviour, and enhancing store security. They actively promoted these initiatives, ensuring businesses are prepared for the potential increase in in-store crime as we approach the festive season.

In addition to in-store crime management tips, the BID highlighted and spoke about their new MyMK Business Against Crime Radio Scheme, facilitating instant communication between businesses, centre security, TVP, and My Local Bobbies.

Businesses are encouraged to connect with My Local Bobby, who have successfully reduced the number of professional beggars in the area from 12 to 4, and have assisted three entrenched beggars in seeking Local Authority support. These individuals have now transitioned away from street life.

To ensure businesses are kept in the loop of known offenders in the city centre, they can now sign up to a 'Alert'* system which is enhancing intelligence sharing within the community. Now identifying over 50 known offenders, this GDPR-compliant database allows businesses to stay informed about unwanted individuals in the area.

For more information on accessing 'Alert', arranging a visit from My Local Bobby, or obtaining a new BID Radio, please call 01908 395 099 or email Matthew our Place Management Director at matthew@mymiltonkeynes.co.uk.

*'Alert' is supplied by ShopSafe, but isn't just for retailers.
