The BID has published the MK Business Continuity Plan, a step-by-step guide to help businesses protect their premises and staff from major incidents, to ensure they can get back to trading quickly and safely.

Overview

A Milton Keynes Business Continuity Plan has been published to help businesses in the area recover and re-open after a major incident. Safety and security is of paramount importance to the BID and this plan will ensure minimal disruption in the case of a major incident or emergency, allowing businesses and their staff to continue trading as safely and quickly as possible.

Other ways we are making our city safe

Police

The BID has funded an additional Thames Valley Police Officer to exclusively patrol the BID area and tackle anti-social behaviour.

  • 2,000 hours of patrolling, police presence

  • 94 verbal warnings issued to professional beggars

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour

  • Five Community Protection Notice breaches served.

Business Crime Partnership

The Business Crime Partnership (BCP) has been launched to bring businesses together so they can share information about potential offenders in a safe space.

  • 50 members are currently signed up to BCP

  • 100 banned or unwanted individuals currently on the system

  • Key driver of Barwatch in the area

  • Uses the DISC online management tool

BID Ambassador

Our BID Ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the BID and work closely with Thames Valley to cross reference and share information.

  • 900 incidents tackled and addressed

  • One rough sleeper repatriated

  • Key part of the Safer Streets project

  • Helped choose locations for new CCTV

CCTV

MyMiltonKeynes has directly funded two CCTV cameras in partnership with Milton Keynes City Council.

  • BID Ambassadors integral to identifying locations for CCTV cameras

  • Two CCTV cameras funded by the BID

  • Working in partnership with MKCC

Tap to Donate

£20,000 has been raised to help the city’s homeless population through the BID’s Tap to Donate machines.

  • £20,000 raised for the homeless

  • Machines are easy for the public to use

  • Completely contactless, money can be donated in just one tap

Funding of The Breakout Programme and The Inspiration Programme projects.
